A’s are back baby!

Now we are talking. As customary here at Bay Area Scores, we don’t start writing recaps until they win their first game. So, to briefly talk about opening night, it was disappointing but almost expected. The bad news was, we didn’t score, only had 3 hits and lost the game, the good news is, you knew they were gonna come out and swing the bat on Tuesday.
Swing the bat is what they did. Giambi, Cust, Sweeny all had 3 hits and the A’s finally scored some runs in route to a 6-4 victory over the Angels. Trevor Cahill made his A’s debut and the kid looked a little flustered out there, but who wouldn’t be, friends and family in the stands, first big league game, but hey, he was a battler and got through 5 innings with only 2 ER runs.
The most improved A’s lineup does have a different feeling than years past, when you had to put your hopes and dreams into Jack Cust to make things happen. Last night, as you can see, the A’s have a number of guys that can hit the ball.
I’m excited… I really think this A’s team is as good as the Angels (even more so because all the Angels pitchers are hurt). I think we will be in the hunt for an AL west title this year, especially if we can stay healthy (Holliday sat out tuesday because he is sick… I didn’t realize he was such a pussy). Well, the A’s are 1-1 and have Dana ‘don’t call me fat’ Eveland going for them tonight.
Slick Predicts: A’s double up the Angels… I think fatty Jr. does a good job and the A’s bats continue to swing, A’s win 8-4.
