Sharks killed by Anaheim, season over

The Sharks lost 4-1 to the Ducks last night, ending their playoff hopes, 4 games to 2. The Sharks were a collosal bust given that they were the #1 seed entering the playoffs and had the best record in the NHL.

This was our first legitimate shot at a Bay Area title in quite some time and now it’s gone. Don’t know what the Sharks need to do in the offseason to improve, but they better do it. This sucks.

The Sharks are now dead.

Sharks begin march towards Stanley Cup against Anaheim

The Sharks will begin their playoff run towards the Stanley Cup on Thursday night against the Anaheim Ducks. The Sharks had the best record in hockey this season and have clinched home ice throughout the playoffs, something they have never done before. The Sharks are 32-5-4 at home, so home ice is huge!

This is the first playoff meeting between 2 California teams in 40 years!

This should be a good physical series, as these teams do not like each other. Fuck LA, fuck Anaheim, fuck Socal! Go SHARKS! Bring us home a championship!

Big shutout in Big D for Nabokov and the Sharks

Evgeni Nabokov had more shots fired at his face than Jenna Jameson during a busy week, but he it didn’t matter as Nabokov came up big for the Sharks Monday night in Dallas. He stopped all 29 shots that were fired at him and threw up another shutout for the Sharks.

Even Jenna Jameson couldn't have survived 29 shots fired at her, but Evgeni Nabokov could.

Devin Setoguchi scored the Sharks only goal in the 3rd period to break the scoreless tie and keep the Sharks with the best record in the NHL.

The Sharks were slow to the puck overall during this one, but still came away with the win thanks to Nabokov.

Next up for San Jose is a showdown with Western Conference power Detroit. Should be a great one!

Have the Sharks returned?

The Sharks have not been very good lately but playing back on the home ice will likely change their fortunes. The Sharks beat up on the Oilers the other night. In what was mostly a one sided game, it was a good change. I would think to keep up the intensity would be tough, especially when you are missing a few key guys to injuries and you have like a 20 point lead on the next team.

I guess the only thing really left to play for is the #1 seed in the west, which as nice as it would be, isn’t the end of the world if you end up with the #2 seed. I think that has played a big part in the late lapses by the Sharks. While for other teams every game matters a lot more and they come out 150% to the sharks half ass. Either way, despite the poor play of late, I think the Sharks will still end the season as the #1 seed, and hopefully, just hopefully, they are healthy and motivated come playoff time. It should be fun.
