Raiders shock the world!

Just when you and everyone else are about to leave the Raiders for dead, they up and play a game like this.
The Raiders’ all-around impressive 27-16 victory over the red hot Houston Texans on Sunday had those who braved the cold and rain at the Coliseum roaring their approval and likely wondering if this was a one game aberration or a harbinger of things to come.
“Obviously, it lends itself toward a more positive vibe heading into next year,” Raiders coach Tom Cable said, “but, at the same time, we want to go in to Tampa (on Sunday) and put a great effort on the field so we can back it up. As I mentioned before, we have struggled to do that. So this would be very important for us.”
The Raiders snapped a 3 game losing streak and won for only the second time in 2 months. They improved to 4-11 and assured themselves a third-place finish in the AFC West.
Perhaps more important, the Raiders showed they are capable of beating a good team and playing well in all phases of the game from start to finish, regardless of who is on the field.
The Raiders played without their top 4 wide receivers against a Texans team riding a four-game winning streak on the strength of the league’s 3rd ranked offense.
Second-year wide receiver Johnnie Lee Higgins almost single-handedly turned a close game into a one-sided affair. He scored on a 29-yard touchdown reception and an 80-yard punt return within 4 minutes, 19 seconds of each other midway through the third quarter.
“I feel like I’m explosive,” Higgins said. “Like, you never know what can happen. ‘It looks like he’s tackled, it looks like he’s down. Oh, he’s gone. It looks like he can’t catch it, like he can’t do this. There he goes.’ So, I always look at myself as a playmaker.”
The Raiders wrap up the season at Tampa Bay on Sunday.
Raiders crushed by Pats, but gain moral victory!

It was Moral Victory Sunday for the Raiders, a team grasping for whatever hopeful straws remain in yet another lost season.
QB JaMarcus Russell gave himself high grades in a 242 yard effort. Middle linebacker Kirk Morrison gave his defense props for a solid second half. Even interim head coach Tom Cable tried to make rainbows on a rainy day at the Coliseum.
The thoughts are comforting, like orange slices and a trip to Shakey’s Pizza after the game, but nothing in the world will make that final score wash away: Patriots 49, Raiders 26.
Pressed on the matter, all parties agreed there was no going end around on that end result.
“There’s a lot of good out there,” Cable said with a 3-11 record hanging over his interim title. “Now, we just got our tails kicked. I’m not trying to get around that. But the fact of the matter is the quarterback had another week of progress. Offensively, we moved a step closer in terms of a unit.
“But that’s all you take out of it.”
Let the Raiders enjoy their baby steps of the week. What else should they do, pound their chests and tell the world how they just became the first team in NFL history to lose at least 11 games in six straight seasons?
The Raiders just flat out suck. Cable will be replaced after the season and this team, with one of the highest payrolls in the NFL, is fucked.
Raiders crushed in SD, 34-7

The Raiders got crushed, 34-7 on Thursday night by the San Diego Chargers. LT had 91 yards and a touchdown and Vincent Jackson had 150 yards and a touchdown as this one was never really in doubt.
The Raiders last three games are against New England, Houston and at Tampa Bay. There is a very good chance they will lose all 3 and finish the season 3-13. That should get them about the 5th pick in the draft. Good job guys.
Raiders lose to lowly Chiefs

Tyler Thigpen put together one effective drive for the Kansas City Chiefs. It turned out to be enough to beat the Oakland Raiders in a matchup between two of the NFL’s worst teams.
Thigpen led a 91 yard drive that was capped by Larry Johnson’s 2 yard tiebreaking touchdown run early in the 4th quarter to lead the Chiefs to a 20-13 victory. The Chiefs snapped a 7 game losing streak and won for just the second time in their last 21 games.
Kansas City, now 2-10, scored its first touchdown on Maurice Leggett’s 67-yard fumble return on a botched fake field goal by the Raiders, who are now 3-9.
Tony Gonzalez had 8 catches for 110 yards and Johnson ran for 92 yards on 24 carries
Next up for the Raiders is a trip to San Diego this Thursday.
