Big Unit charms snakes to give Giants series win

Randy Johnson threw 7 shutout innings, only giving up 1 hit and the bullpen did their job, pitching a scoreless 8th and 9th innings as the Giants won 2-0 and took the series against the Diamondbacks 2 games to 1.
Randy Johnson used 76 pitches to dazzle the diamondbacks for 7 innings. It was Johnson’s 296th victory of his career and the first of his Giants career.
Pablo Sandoval bused out of his slump, going 3 for 4, but other than that, the Giants offense was pathetic again.
The Giants are off on Monday and then play the surprising Padres on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Giants pathetic in San Diego

The Giants completed a pathetic trip to San Diego with a 6-1 defeat, which capped a 3 game sweep by the Padres. The Padres are expected to be the last place team in the NL West.
I wish I could point to one thing as the reason the Giants embarrased themselves in San Diego, but I really can’t. The defense made several poor plays during the series, particularly yesterday behind Lincecum. The offense was almost nonexistant. Now, I can understand having difficulty against Peavy and Young, the only legitimate threats in the Padre rotation, but on Friday the Giants couldn’t score against some scrub that the Nationals cut in spring training. That is a pathetic.
Even the pitching sucked, and that is supposed to be this team’s strength. Zito, Sanchez and Lincecum all sucked.
Either they just had a bad series, or this is going to be an extremely long year. The Giants face the Doyers in their home opener today at 1pm. Hopefully we kick their ass. Fuckin doyers.
Giants win is bittersweet as reliever gets tagged in the head

Thursday’s Giants game could not have been going any better. Cain was pitching great. The Giants were hitting the ball. The defense was solid. Then, with 2 outs in the 9th and the 2 strikes on Mike Cameron, the mood turned from happy to horrified in an instant. Cameron smashed a line drive up the middle which tagged rookie reliever Joe Martinez in the right side of the head. Martinez crumpled to the ground but then got up. The training staff rushed to him and sat him down on the grass as they tended to him. The latest reports are that he has a concussion and 3 small fractures in his head. It could have been a lot worse. He is expected to make a full recovery.
As far as the game is concerned, the Giants pounded out 12 hits. Fred Lewis went 3 for 3 and Bengie Molina had 4 rbi’s and 2 doubles. Cain pitched 7 innings and gave up only 1 run. The defense made some nice plays. The Giants took 2 of 3 from the Brewers and make their first road trip, going to SD and LA. Tonight is Zito vs some scrub. We’ll win 5-2.
