A’s lose final 5 games of season

The A’s , went out like a bunch of chumps this past week. Losing their final 5 games of the season, 2 to the Rangers then getting swept by the AL West’s worse, Seattle Mariners. The A’s did not fare very well this year. What started off so exciting, so promising turned into a big pile of turtle dung. It all happened around the All-Star Break… Huston Street was playing like a piece of shit, blowing game after game thus putting us a 6 or so games back… then the fire sale happened.
Well, there could be some positives… Dana Eveland and Greg Smith didn’t look half that bad. Of course Eveland struggled mightily at times, but that’s to be expected from both of these guys. Ryan Sweeney looks like a sure stud. Ziegler looked fantastic. Carlos Gonzales looked good, of course at times he too struggled, but that guy is going to be like Carlos Beltran. I mean, the A’s have some pieces to work with that’s for sure, lets just hope they get rid of the strikeout king Jack Cust and get some real power/hitters in that lineup.
As an A’s fan, the off-season is always fun, you never know who is going to get traded or whats going to happen with Beane behind the wheel. Lets just hope he shakes it up a bit, keeps the young core, and continues to build for the future.
Go A’s!
A’s sweep Mariners - Cust sets new AL Mark
September 23, 2008 by Slicker · Leave a Comment
The A’s swept the visiting Mariners over this past weekend. Combine this sweep and last nights victory over Texas has put the A’s in 2nd place in the AL West. Of course, the Angels clinched a long time ago, but finishing in second would be a nice accomplishment for the baby A’s. Especially after seeing how much they fell out of it here in the second half of the season.
On a side note, Jack Cust set the AL mark for strikeouts… its too bad Jack Cust is not a pitcher. I sure hope the A’s cut ties with this roidin strike out machine. He has 30 homeruns, but how many of them really mattered? Cust is fricken garbage and doesn’t belong on the A’s team.
The A’s have 2 more at Texas then head to Seattle for their final series of the Season. They need to win out to reach 80 wins on the season, which is higher than most experts put them at the beginning of the season.
A’s take 2 of 3 from Halos

The A’s beat the Angeles a couple times this week on their way to winning 2 of 3 from their So. Cal. Rival. The A’s are sitting at a smooth 10 games under .500, 71-81. Lets pray for a nice 10 game win streak to finish the year at .500…
The first game of the series the A’s pounded big John Lacky on their way to an impressive 8-1 victory. Ryan Sweeney had 4 hits, bringing his avg. up to .301. Sweeney can rake, the guy has been our best hitter all year, lets hope he can stay a little more healthy than he has this year going forward. Sean Gallagher actually pitched a pretty good game too, at least this time he didn’t surrender 6 walks like his last outing.
In game 2 we saw Brad Ziegler give up his first home run in 2 years and his first blown save, as Mark Texiera hit a 2 run homer in the top of the 9th. Greg Smith pitched a great game and Sweeney got on base 3 times. In what was a pretty boring game got exciting in the 9th. First Ziegler gives up a weak ass little line drive home runt o the shortest part of the field, then the A’s respond with 2 runs against K-rod to win it. I fucking hate k-rod, what a fag nickname too.
In the series finale, the A’s got their asses pounded. The Halos opened up a 6-nil lead heading into the ninth. Then in classic angel baseball, they allow the A’s to score a couple runs so gay-rod could come in. Talk about the most worthless stat in baseball… the save. Pretty much any closer in the league can get the number of saves gay-rod did if they had the opportunity, well except for Street, since he is terrible.
Nice to see the baby A’s take 2 from the Halos, who are still playing for home-field advantage in the post season. I hope they enjoy their division title this year because its not going to last much longer. The A’s are going to be contenders either next year at the earliest, but 2010 for sure.
A’s split series with Rangers

The A’s were able to pull out a split with the Texas Rangers over the weekend. After getting their asses pounded the first 2 games, the A’s rebounded with some solid pitching and hitting to pull even with those douche bags.
I hate the Rangers, not as much as the Angels who are coming to town tomorrow, but the Rangers bug me. The A’s are 11 games under .500 with only a couple weeks left. I can’t wait for the season to end since their off-seasons are always more exciting than the regular season.
A’s vs. Angels in Oakland starting Tuesday.
