Crabtree falls to #10, Niners quickly draft him

Michael Crabtree is now a Niner after they selected him with the 10th pick in the draft

As the Niners waited for their turn to draft and teams made their selections, it came upon the Raiders turn to draft. The Raiders, like the Niners, desperately need a playmaking receiver. So it was pretty much a lock that the Raiders would take the draft’s best playmaking receiver, Michael Crabtree out of Texas Tech right? Wrong. Mastermind (that was sarcastic) Al Davis, who always has a hardon for speedsters, drafted a receiver out of Maryland that I’ve never heard of who is the fastest guy in the draft, but has many question marks surrounding him.
With the 8th and 9th selections belonging to teams that had more pressing needs than wide receiver, Crabtree was available when the Niners selected at 10. It took them about 1 minute to decide that they had gotten lucky and a wide receiver widely expected to be drafted in the top 5 should be drafted.
Now the Niners have the playmaking wide receiver that they have lacked since T.O. was shipped off for nothing about 6 years ago.  I love this pick! This is exactly what the offense needs…. well, besides someone to actually throw it to Crabtree.
The Niners traded their 2nd and 4th round selections this year to Carolina for their 1st round selection next year, which means the Niners will have 2 first rounders next year. Hopefully Carolina is awful this year and that pick is an early first rounder, but I wouldn’t hold my breath as Carolina is expected to go to the playoffs this year. Hopefully Jake Delhomme and Steve Smith get arrested for having child porn on their computers and miss the season.

Giants sweep Padres with offensive outburst

The Giants offense busted out for 1 entire run on Wednesday to support Barry Zito’s dominating 7 inning effort as the Giants beat the San Diego Padres 1-0 in 10 innings. The Giants swept a 2 game series from the Padres, which is partial payback for the Padres 3 game sweep of the Giants earlier this month.

The Giants had a nice 4-1 homestand and now are 6-2 at home and 0-6 on the road. The Giants are off Thursday, have a 3 game road trip in Arizona and then come home to face the doyers.

The pitching was stellar on this homestand, only allowing 5 runs in the 5 games. Hopefully the Giants start hitting soon, because right now they look horrible on offense.

Big Unit charms snakes to give Giants series win

Randy Johnson threw 7 shutout innings, only giving up 1 hit and the bullpen did their job, pitching a scoreless 8th and 9th innings as the Giants won 2-0 and took the series against the Diamondbacks 2 games to 1.

Randy Johnson used 76 pitches to dazzle the diamondbacks for 7 innings. It was Johnson’s 296th victory of his career and the first of his Giants career.

Pablo Sandoval bused out of his slump, going 3 for 4, but other than that, the Giants offense was pathetic again.

The Giants are off on Monday and then play the surprising Padres on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Sharks begin march towards Stanley Cup against Anaheim

April 13, 2009 by Doyers Suck · Leave a Comment

The Sharks will begin their playoff run towards the Stanley Cup on Thursday night against the Anaheim Ducks. The Sharks had the best record in hockey this season and have clinched home ice throughout the playoffs, something they have never done before. The Sharks are 32-5-4 at home, so home ice is huge!

This is the first playoff meeting between 2 California teams in 40 years!

This should be a good physical series, as these teams do not like each other. Fuck LA, fuck Anaheim, fuck Socal! Go SHARKS! Bring us home a championship!
