Lincecum Lands Pay Raise

The Giants have agreed with right-hander Tim Lincecum on a one-year, $650,000 contract, possibly marking the last time that they’ll be able to rein in his salary.

Lincecum probably will be eligible for salary arbitration after this season, a process which will virtually guarantee him astronomical raises — assuming he continues to perform at or near his Cy Young Award-winning level.

I didn’t realize you could still resign a Cy Young award winner for less than a million a season. They should have tried that tactic with Zito. The Giants must be saving the rest of their money for a contract offer to Manny Ramirez.

Warriors season in free fall

Yes the season has been over for sometime now, but the energy and excitement that Monta Ellis brought back had really made the season enjoyable again. Now that he is shelved again, plus a pathetically gay loss to the Clippers and now a loss at home to the Bobcats… The dubs are officially back to their free fall they started earlier this season.

Don Nelson gave Jamal Crawford the night off in an attempt to give Cj, Morrow and Belinelli more playing time. This didn’t work out really well, as all 3 of those guys didn’t do a damn thing. Sunday vs. the Jazz Nelson plans on sitting Stephen Jackson, next week its Andris and sometime soon Maggette will be getting his night off.

Well, with the loss, the Warriors get a little closer to trying to get the number 1 pick. The chance of getting it is very slim and even if the Warriors somehow did end up with the worst record, its almost a guarantee they wouldn’t get it either so… yeah. Looking ahead at the draft, the only guy I could really see us wanting is Blake Griffen. Besides him, I don’t think there are many impact players that could come to the dubs and make a difference.

49ers sign a couple

The 49ers were pretty quick in a few signings today. The niners brought back Moran Norris at FB and resigned Takeo Spikes and Allan Rossum. I like all 3 signings. I liked Norris when he was with the niners, he is a beast of a blocker. Spikes is great too, had a good year last year and despite being 50 years old can still play. Same goes for Rossum, who was a great little kick returned last year. So far a good start.

Ishikawa begins his quest for Hall of Fame, goes 3-3 in Giants win

Travis Ishikawa is under pressure to perform if he wants to prevent the Giants from picking up a veteran first baseman. Ishikawa started this spring showing he means business by going 3 for 3 including 2 home runs and 4 rbi’s as the Giants beat the Cleveland Indians 10-7 in their spring training opener.

Thanks to the power of God, Travis Ishikawa hit 2 home runs, probably because it was Ash Wednesday.

Thanks to the power of God, Travis Ishikawa hit 2 home runs, probably because it was Ash Wednesday.

“Like I said before, I’m going in with [the mind-set of] this is my job to lose,” Ishikawa said. “I’m going to keep doing everything I can. I can’t promise you two home runs every day. I wish I could; that would be great.”

Manager Bruce Bochy has noticed the purposefulness in Ishikawa, who also went 2-for-2 in Tuesday’s intrasquad game.

“Ishi’s got a great look about him right now,” Bochy said. “He looks confident. He looks like he wants to take this job and run with it.”

I swear to god, I think this is an omen! The Giants are going to win it all this year!
