Raiders lose to lowly Chiefs

Tyler Thigpen put together one effective drive for the Kansas City Chiefs. It turned out to be enough to beat the Oakland Raiders in a matchup between two of the NFL’s worst teams.

Thigpen led a 91 yard drive that was capped by Larry Johnson’s 2 yard tiebreaking touchdown run early in the 4th quarter to lead the Chiefs to a 20-13 victory. The Chiefs snapped a 7 game losing streak and won for just the second time in their last 21 games.

Kansas City, now 2-10, scored its first touchdown on Maurice Leggett’s 67-yard fumble return on a botched fake field goal by the Raiders, who are now 3-9.

Tony Gonzalez had 8 catches for 110 yards and Johnson ran for 92 yards on 24 carries

Next up for the Raiders is a trip to San Diego this Thursday.

49ers get defensive, beat Bills in Buffalo

The Niners have won 2 of their last 3 games. Let me say that again. The Niners have won 2 of their last 3 games.

The 49ers rode their defense to victory against the Buffalo Bills, 10-3.  Patrick Willis led the Niners defense with 14 tackles and a forced fumble. The defense was able to get enough pressure when they had to.

If you look at the box score, you wonder how the fuck the Niners won this game. Marshawn Lynch rushed for 134 yards, the Niners did not have any interceptions and only forced 1 fumble. The Niners defense bent at times, but it never broke. The key to this victory was the Niners red zone defense. 4 times the Bills were inside the 15 yard line. All 4 times the Bills were kept out of the end zone. They were forced to go for a field goal 3 times (Rian Lindell missed 2 short field goals) and the Bills went for it on 4th down and goal and failed once.

Shaun Hill managed the game and did not turn it over. Isaac Bruce had 5 grabs for 67 yards including the Niners only touchdown.  Jason Hill had 5 catches for 55 yards. The Niners got enough rushing yards and enough passing yards to get enough 1st downs to keep the time of possession equal.

Next up is a home game against the beatable Jets. The Niners could make it 3 of 4 with a win, but….. these are the Niners were talking about.

Yawn…..Sharks win again

It’s almost getting boring. Every time you watch the Sharks you expect them to win. You know they will win. On Saturday night……they won. This time though, they had to come from behind on the road to do it.

The Sharks fell behind 2-0 to the Phoenix Coyotes in the 1st period. The Sharks then scored 2 goals later in the 1st period within 62 seconds of each other to tie the game. The game remained tied 2-2 until the 3rd period when the Sharks got yet another goal from a defenseman. Brad Lukowich scored with 11:23 remaining and it held up for a 3-2 victory.

The win moved the Sharks record to an astonishing 20-3-1, best in the NHL. Next victim will be Tuesday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Warriors defense is offensive, give up 138 points to the Knicks!

The Warriors gave up 138 points, 82 in the 1st half, to the NY Knicks, on their way to a 138-125 loss. It was the Warriors 6th straight loss, dropping their record to 5-12.

The Warriors are in bad shape right now. They are searching for an identity and a for leadership. They look bad on offense, they look bad on defense, and well….they just look bad. If the Warriors don’t turn it around soon, it won’t matter when Monta comes back, as it will be too late.

Stephen Jackson sat out this game with a srained wrist. Maggette had 32 and 12, but Al Harrington was a man playing with revenge in his heart. Harrington, who had been shooting poorly in his first 2 games as a Knick, lit up the Warriors for 36 points on over 50% shooting. He also had 12 rebounds.

The Warriors now head home after an 0-5 road trip to face the Heat.
