Cain is able, but Giants bats definitely are not

July 30, 2008 by Doyers Suck

Matt Cain pitched another great game last night and the Giants gave him his typical run support…. nothing. The Giants managed only 5 hits and no runs against a career minor leagure and the doyers pen in a 2-0 loss at chavez-ravine. Cain pitched masterfully, giving up 1 earned run (the 2nd run was unearned and replays showed it should have never been allowed) on 5 hits through 7 innings. Cain clearly has hit his stride, as his 2.09 ERA in six July starts demonstrates. For the first time in his career, he walked none for the second start in a row.

The Giants have given Matt Cain the third-worst run support in the National League at just over three runs a game.

The Giants will send Dirty Sanchez to the mound tonight against Chad Billingsley in search of a series win in that cesspool called l.a. Hopefully the Giants can muster up more than 0 runs tonight.
With tomorrow’s trade deadline fast approaching, there isn’t much talk coming out of SF regarding any possible deals. We’ll have to wait and see, but at this point, I’m not expecting much of anything to happen.

I hope Sanchez is extra dirty tonight.
